Writing a food blog certainly has its perks, and last night was one of those nights! We got a sneak peek of the new CAVA in Short Pump ahead of the official opening to the public and enjoyed a delicious dinner while checking out CAVA’s newest Richmond digs. If you aren’t familiar with CAVA, the easiest way to describe the growing chain is a Mediterranean version of Chipotle — you start at the beginning of the line and decide what kind of meal you want and then the customization begins and it keeps going for a good long while. There is not a lack of options when eating here, you’ll definitely be able to find something that’s just right for you! If you don’t know CAVA yet, you’re probably going to know it soon – this time last year Richmond didn’t have a single CAVA location, and by the end…

We’re not mulin’ around. It’s Mule Month at Beijing on Grove, which means the restaurant is featuring five different takes on the classic Moscow Mule for the month of July. If you’re mapping out the best time to visit, we suggest going during happy hour which the restaurant offers seven days a week from 3-7 p.m. No surprise, it’s July. It should come as no surprise that I LOVE when BuzzFeed puts together the handy-dandy little round-ups of what’s in season each month along with a bunch of timely recipe ideas. I mean, it just makes things so easy. Here’s the list of 31 things you should cook this July. The BuzzFeed team has already convinced me that this is going to be the month that I attempt grilled pizza and make these ridiculously cute fruit crisps in mason jars. We’ll start with the good news. Richmond Wine Station is now…

There’s nothing like a (really) good sandwich. And if you agree with that statement, you’re in for a treat. The Paulie is a Philly style sandwich pop-up from the team at Comfort, and it officially kicked off Monday and is running throughout the summer on weekdays from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. You can check out the menu here and get more details here. If you follow along with us on Instagram, don’t be surprised if you spot us here real soon. Sub Rosato, this time with all rosé. Did you know Sub Rosa offers a tasting style wine bar, Sub Rosato, every other week? If that news wasn’t good enough, this weekend it’s all rosé, all the time on Saturday and Sunday from 5 – 11 p.m. Can’t make it this weekend? Take a look at their standing dates throughout the summer here. Speaking of rosé, did you know it comes in cans? Talk…

Big news for bread and pastry fans. Idle Hands Bread Company – a place we raved about on the blog last summer – is opening a second location! This one will be in the Fan on Strawberry Street and you can check out a sneak peek of what the inside currently looks like over on Instagram. If you can’t take the heat…you can still be in the kitchen. BuzzFeed has a list of  27 dinners for when it’s too hot to cook, and this week is a good example of that. From five ingredient pasta salad to chilled soups, you can get creative while still keeping it cool. If you need another idea, these Thai Drunken Zoodles are a good warm weather recipe, too. Shout out to SPARC. We had the chance to go to SPARC’s Live Art performance this past Sunday featuring student performers from the Richmond community along with guest stars…

Expansion underway. Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery announced a $14 million expansion last week that will not only expand their existing brewery space in Goochland but will also add a new production brewery in downtown Lynchburg. You can find all the details on  the announcement over at The Richmond Times-Dispatch. It’s going down(town). From the looks of the Instagram feed for Garnett’s at The Valentine, it sounds like we’ll be able to enjoy those tasty sandwiches, salads and pies downtown pretty darn soon. Same goes for Yaki, which will open to the public this Friday. In other downtown dining news, Paul Keevil, owner of Millie’s LuLu’s and Tio Pablo, plans to open a coffee shop in Shockoe Bottom at 29 N. 17th Street and BonChon, a chain known for its Korean fried chicken, is opening its fourth location in Richmond and first within the city near VCU. When basic just won’t cut it. Delish put…
