Open now and coming soon. In a reopening of sorts, North End Ice Cream has been transformed into North End Market, a Museum District spot that will be evenings from 4:30 – 10 p.m. In addition to sweet treats, the market will serve savory dishes like chicken pot pie and vegan mushroom shepherd’s pie. In not yet open, but coming soon news, Tazza Kitchen’s Scott’s Addition location is set to open in early December! The menu will mimic the restaurant’s other locations and will also include patio seating and a private dining room.
Are you ready for Thanksgiving?! Like it or not, it is coming and coming quickly. To get you in the holiday spirit, read this Tasting Table article which outlines the best pie in every state. Spoiler alert, Virginia’s pie is not just a pie but an entire pie shop. Also filed under Thanksgiving is this love letter to bagged stuffing — which I fully support.
TV your phone’s screen. Season six of Mind of a Chef debuted last night on Facebook Watch (and no not the kind you wear). Basically, this trend combines my two loves, food tv and social media trends, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. THREE WHOLE EPISODES dropped last night (TAKE THAT PBS, jk jk) and more episodes will be released weekly — just in time for a good holiday binge session. Watch the first three episodes here, fo free.

What to add to your calendar
A little bit of China here in Richmond. I have always been pretty fascinated by the discovery of the Terracotta Army and now pieces of that massive collection will be on display at the VMFA. The exhibit opens this Saturday, and will be open through mid-March.
Friendsgiving with a side of beer and good deeds. Tomorrow Ardent is hosting its annual Friendsgiving dinner to benefit Feedmore. Donate 15 cans of food, or $15 and you’ll get to sample food from more than 15 participating restaurants.
Two opportunities to kick-start your holiday shopping! The Visual of Arts Center of Richmond will host Craft + Design this weekend at the newly renovated Main Street Station Train Shed. The event is ticketed ($10) and a list of participating artists can be found here. And on November 25th (on Small Business Saturday) Studio Two Three will be hosting its RVA Artisan Market. I picked up a few gifts here last year, and my one word of advice is to be prepared to deal with the crowds. Richmonders love a good artisan market.
Music to my ears. Classical Revolution, a nonprofit that takes classical music out of the formal concert hall and into non-traditional settings, is celebrating its fifth birthday this Thursday with a party at the HofGarden. There will be a 40-piece orchestra performing Beethoven’s 5th symphony and tickets are just $5 in advance!
