It feels like Tuesday, but it’s really What’s Happenin’ Wednesday!
Have you heard of Into Quarterly? It’s a creative city journal, and the most recent volume focuses on none other than Richmond, featuring creative writing, design, photography and fine art. You can buy Volume Two: Richmond at a number of local shops like Quirk Gallery Fountain Books, Stock Provisions, Chop Suey Books and also online.
In the kitchen: I am ALL about pesto in the summertime. I’ve been enjoying the fresh sauce in everything from pasta dishes to breakfast sandwiches, and I love how easy it is whip up a quick batch at home. This pesto recipe is a good start and will put your basil leaves to good use. Looking for more cooking inspiration? Buzzfeed has you covered with this list of 23 classic summer recipes they think everyone should master.
ICYMI: This Richmond Times-Dispatch article on area nanobreweries — breweries that typically don’t brew more than one batch of a beer at a time — is worth a read.
Chances are, you’ve dined at one of Kendra Feather’s restaurants around town, whether it was The Roosevelt, Impanema or Garnett’s Cafe. Come August, you’ll be able to add another spot of Feather’s to your list: Laura Lee’s. Read more about the new spot here.
File this under helpful hints: Tuesday is known as Super Tuesday at Bow-Tie Cinemas, when you can get a $6 movie ticket all day every Tuesday. If you’re like me and love to enjoy a movie in theater every once in a while, especially during these hot summer months, this is a great way to do it!
Speaking of Tuesday night specials, did you know Tuesday night is fried chicken night at The Roosevelt? For $9, you get fried chicken thighs served with a hot honey sauce. The chicken is always gluten-free and always delicious. Oh yeah, they usually sell out — so get there early if you’re planning to go!
