The sweet and salty life of two friends eating all of the foods.

What’s Happenin’ Wednesday
It’s Wednesday, here’s what’s happening
Things have been happening RVA! ICYMI: Peter Chang’s newest restaurant opened late last week in Scott’s Addition — you can view the menu here and there’s even an app for ordering take out. Tenka Ramen downtown is also open, and I’m very excited to give this place a try. WPA Bakery’s second location opened today on Semmes Ave. Now all of you Southsiders won’t have to travel to Church Hill for a slice of Hummingbird cake. Last but not least, over in my original hood (Midlothian) Steam Bell Beer Works opens this weekend.
I speak for both of us when I say that Meg and I’s hearts broke on Monday when RVANews announced it would be shutting down after ten years. We love the reporters over there and RVA is losing an incredible resource that I don’t think can ever be replaced.
If you need to eat your feelings because of the RVANews news, try this salted caramel brownie recipe. And if you want to get fancy with it, top it with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream.
I will admit that I watch a lot of bad tv. I just love unwinding after work by turning on Bravo to watch a few mindless episodes of Real Housewives. So I need you to trust me when I say that one show you should be watching is UnReal on Lifetime. Even NPR is talking about the show, so it’s not just me! This scripted show portrays what might be happening behind the scenes of The Bachelor — the show was co-created by Sarah Shapiro who was producer for The Bachelor for nine seasons.
Love country music and need something to do on Friday? Tickets are still available for the Tim McGraw concert to benefit artistic and educational programs of Richmond CenterStage Foundation. Use the promo code “K95cares” and tickets will only cost you $67 or $97.
You’ve probably noticed, I have a small obsession with donuts. This weekend, Sugar Shack will be celebrating its third anniversary! We give you permission to go eat a donut or three to celebrate!
Need an idea for Father’s Day? Make the quick trip up to Charlottesville for Father’s Field Day at Early Mountain Vineyards. There will be smoked meat, beer, wine and sweet treats. Early bird tickets are on sale for $15 until June 12th, then ticket prices go up by $5.
