Juice bars, taco, cocktails and more. In this week’s restaurant opening news, Little Saint is now officially open in the former Deco space in the Museum District, Ginger Juice and a taco joint are planning to open on Jefferson Avenue and a new cocktail bar, The Jasper, is coming to Carytown from Mattias Hägglund, Thomas “T” Leggett and Kevin Liu. Fans of craft cocktails may recognize Mattias and Thomas from their time spent at Heritage and The Roosevelt, respectively.

Southern cookin’. Thrillist put together a list of southern food chains that they think the entire country needs. Even in Richmond, we only have access to a few of them, including Waffle House and Cook Out.

All about schug. Anyone who knows me knows I love a good condiment – I love when meals are accompanied by good dips and sauces. That’s why I was intrigued when I came across this Tasting Table article on schug, a hot sauce where serrano chiles are the star. I haven’t tried it for myself quite yet, but the article promises the garlic, lemon and herbs that are a part of the recipe offset the heat.

Because we all have dirty sheet pans that are worse for the wear. You’re going to want to read this article from Tasting Table on how to give your ol’ pans a refresher.

What to add to your calendar

No Sunday scaries this weekend. It’s always good to end the weekend on a fun note, right? I’ve got just the way for you to close out your Sunday this upcoming weekend, the 13th Annual Blue Grass and Blue Crab Festival where all proceeds will benefit Saint Francis Home. What to expect: live music, an auction and fun for the whole family. Did I mention it’s all you can eat and drink, including blue crabs, beer and wine? Get your tickets here.

The women behind #rvadine. Chamber RVA is hosting a great program this Thursday at 4 p.m. focusing on women in the RVA food scene. Registration is required, and you can do that right here.

Cobra burgers are back. If you haven’t picked up on the fact that this pop-up at The Veil is one you don’t want to miss, let us remind you. The burgers are back at the Veil tomorrow, Thursday, September 28 starting at 5 p.m. If you don’t have plans? Go. If you do have plans? You might want to change them.

Nothing says fall like a chili cookoff. The Art Junction Chili Throwdown hosted by the Visual Arts Center of Richmond is coming up on Friday, October 6. Tickets are $25 for the general public and adult admission includes a handmade ceramic bowl and a drink ticket. Sounds like a good deal to me!
